French Course at IPSTC

Cover French Course IPSTCWelcome to the IPSTC French course!

On this website you will find the material used for the French classes at IPSTC, Nairobi Kenya. The customized  textbook can be downloaded lesson by lesson. You will also find the audio files for you to listen so that you can practice or improve your pronunciation.

Each lesson includes a short dialogue, grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, a cultural item and some exercises.

The objectives of our course

The lessons are focused on language functions so that even with little knowledge of the language, the student will be able to communicate right away with francophone speakers.

You might find that the contents do not follow the traditional grammatical steps, such as a thorough study of the auxiliary verbs “to be” and “to have”. The reason for this is that we have chosen the contents according to accessibility and practical uses.

Take a look at the page of contents to find out what you can use after just a few hours devoted to the study of the French language.

We hope you will have an enjoyable experience!

This course is dedicated to my keen students of IPSTC whom I would like to thank for trusting my work.

I thank General Kabage, the director of IPSTC for his warm welcome and his generous hospitality as well as his kindness and genuine interest for my language.

I thank Lieutenant Colonel Beaudoux chief of the IPSTC staff,  as well as the Defence Attaché Colonel Leblanc – who always says “yes, you can!”- and his deputy Major Genouilhac for giving me the opportunity to work at IPSTC. Thank you for your warm hearts and constant benevolent support, your wise  advice and encouragments during my stay in Kenya. I am very aware of how lucky I am to have had the chance of meeting you.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Lieutenant Colonel Sauvée who in spite of the long distance follows my work with enthousiasm always, being positive and encouraging.

Finally I thank Myriam Ouassem, from Campus France, without whom all this wouldn’t have been possible…Merci Myriam!

My gratitude also goes to the Université Stendhal Grenoble, to the teachers especially Professor Soubrié for enabling me to use the TICE as well as the administration for their efficient work. Un grand merci à Mesdames Martine Achard and Isoline Delayre.
